A Fence Builder's Guide to View Ridge, Seattle
View Ridge is a north Seattle neighborhood, and Seattle has no official neighborhood borders. Wikipedia places it between NE 65th Street on the south, 40th and 45th Avenues NE on the west, the Sand Point Country Club on the north, and Sand Point Way NE on the east, with Hawthorne Hills, Wedgwood, Matthews Beach, and Sand Point beyond those lines.
For a fence builder, the first questions on most lots are where the lot line runs, how much the yard falls, and which side holds the view.
Built around the view
Wikipedia says Ralph Jones and Al Balch first settled View Ridge in 1936, clearing forest land to open views of Lake Washington and the Cascades and selling lots for $450 to $950. The neighborhood was annexed into Seattle in 1942.
That history still shapes fence choices. Many owners keep the view side low or open and put privacy where the neighbors are.
Parks, school and club edges
View Ridge Playfield sits across from View Ridge Elementary, the View Ridge Swim and Tennis Club is on the eastern edge, and the Sand Point Country Club is on the northern edge, according to Wikipedia. Homes on those edges often want a finished outside face and a gate that is easy to reach.
Seattle fence rules in brief
Seattle's fence guidance says no permit is needed for a fence 8 feet or less without masonry or concrete elements over 6 feet. In neighborhood residential zones the zoning code limits fences to 6 feet, or 4 feet in a front or street-side setback.
